Was ist der Unterschied zwischen \u00dcbersetzung und Lokalisierung?<\/summary>\n

Eine strikte \u00dcbersetzung funktioniert wie eine Brille. Sie erm\u00f6glicht Leser*innen den Zugang zu etwas, das ihnen normalerweise nicht zug\u00e4nglich w\u00e4re. Trotzdem ist es nicht ganz dasselbe, wie von Natur aus perfekt sehen zu k\u00f6nnen. Viele Menschen sind sich gar nicht bewusst, dass sie eine Brille tragen, bis sie sich selbst im Spiegel sehen. Genau so sollte es sich auch mit einer guten \u00dcbersetzung verhalten: Sie tritt in den Hintergrund und lenkt niemals vom eigentlichen Inhalt ab. Da jedoch Namen und andere Details des Ausgangstextes beibehalten werden, bleibt sie zum Zwecke der Inhaltstreue als \u00dcbersetzung erkennbar.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Im Gegensatz dazu entspricht die Lokalisierung der perfekten Sehkraft. Der Ausgangstext wird in vollem Umfang \u00fcberarbeitet, mit dem Ziel, seine Rezeption in einem anderen kulturellen Kontext nachzubilden. Ein vollst\u00e4ndig lokalisierter Text soll von einem fremdsprachigen Publikum nicht nur verstanden werden, sondern als \u00dcbersetzung \u00fcberhaupt nicht mehr erkennbar sein.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tats\u00e4chlich liegen die meisten \u00dcbersetzungen auf einem Spektrum zwischen diesen beiden Idealen. Manchmal muss sich die Form ver\u00e4ndern, damit der Inhalt erhalten bleibt. Und manchmal muss sich der Inhalt ver\u00e4ndern, damit die richtige Botschaft erhalten bleibt. Die Aufgabe eines \u00dcbersetzers besteht darin, die richtige Balance zu finden.<\/p>\n<\/details>\n\n\n\n

What’s the difference between editing, copyediting, and proofreading?<\/summary>\n

In simple terms, editing (a.k.a. substantive editing) tends to focus on the big picture. Typically, it’s the first step after the writing stage and it can entail significant changes to the content and structure of the original draft. A thorough edit ensures clarity and coherence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Copyediting is, in a way, the most straightforward part of the text production process as it focuses primarily on form and readability. Structure and flow are still taken into account, but most major issues should have been resolved by this point.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Proofreading is the final step before publication. The fully edited text is polished to perfection and final formatting and typographical errors are eliminated. While it seems simple enough, it demands very close attention and an excellent eye for detail.<\/p>\n<\/details>\n\n\n\n
